JOB SUMMARY:
GGS Information Services, a globally recognized technical publications and engineering services company serving leading manufacturers in transportation, aerospace, construction and agricultural equipment, has an immediate need for qualified candidates to fill a temporary Technical Illustrator position at our facility in York, PA.
This position has the primary responsibility of preparing new and revised technical illustrations, charts, parts lists, or other related materials for technical manuals, user manuals, or other related publications from customer-supplied materials using various software programs.
PRIMARY DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to interpret blueprints and detailed engineering specifications.
- Using various illustration programs, prepare new and revised isometric drawings from engineering data, photos and hand sketches in accordance with customer and military specifications.
- Works closely with subject matter experts in the development of illustrations for service bulletins, Repair Parts Special Tools List (RPSTL) and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
- Converts bitmap to vector art as well as conversion of 3D CAD engineering to flat vector art.
- Interfaces with engineers and technical writers to become familiar with installation and operation methods presently utilized.
- Researches database for existing illustrations and data that will meet customer requirements in order to save time and increase productivity.
- Inputs, organizes, and stores supplied and created art files in order to maintain the customer’s file integrity and consistency on the department’s master database.
- Uses numerous database systems and software.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Requires minimum of an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Drafting & Design or related technical studies in computer drafting or technical illustration along with 3-5 years of related technical illustration experience.
- Must have a fundamental understanding of engineering and at least 6 months of experience interpreting blueprints and detailed engineering specifications.
- Must be proficient with personal computers and various software including desktop publishing, spreadsheet, word processing and database programs.
- Must be experienced in 3D CAD programs. Specifically Unigraphics NX, Pro E and Solidworks. Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
- Must be proficient in vector based illustration programs (polylines, bezier, layering, versioning, etc.).Specifically IsoDRAW, Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw.
- Qualified candidates must have good communication, analytical and problem solving skills, technical aptitude, as well as the ability to multi-task.
